Better yet, never listen to Zappa ever. eek.gif This isn't really a religion thread, it's an obituary for a historical figure who was influential during the lives of many people here. I don't think it's wrong to post, and I don't see how other people he didn't associate with are relevant in an obit.

Did you mean obit or orbit? Both could apply.

ykm.gif I think you're thinkin' of Timothy Leary. Or at least part of him ... "Seven grams of Leary's ashes were arranged by his friend at Celestis to be buried in space aboard a rocket carrying the remains of 23 others..." (source: Wikipedia)

Exactly. So much disrespect on an obituary/eulogy thread. Says a lot about the commenters. ~z

I have to wonder if there was some significance to the choice of 7 grams of ashes. Is that avatar Don Van Vliet? dizzy.gif

I somehow made it thru my own metaphysical wanderings without picking up anything written by Ram Dass or Richard Alpert. But I have to imagine RD would likely be highly amused by some of these posts. It's the nature of enlightenment, right? wink.gif

Listen to Zappa's "Cosmic Debris". I recall there is good version on the web. He knew.
It is a cool song. Let us dedicate it to Ram Dass. RIP.

Tip to those following this thread.... lf you enjoy music and are not familiar with Zappa, take time to listen to his work. Great variety, sense of humor, and of course musical talent. For some it is an aquired appreciation, but you will thank me.

Ski, yes it is. Your knowledge of ancient music is admirable.

Okay. The time has come. For those following this thread, I must remind you that such entertainment has a cost. Without your help, it could be gone. Please delve deep into you heart (your mind if it is clear) and take time to make a year end donation to NW Hikers. Thank you in advance.

Cargo and weight limitations - there were 23 other passengers. clown.gif

I was greatly dismayed to find that there is no "RIP Frank Zappa" thread on this website. Following Washakie's suggestion, allow me to refer you to a true masterpiece from a man who was far ahead of his time: Frank Zappa - Uncle Meat and because the final track on the album, for reasons which defy explanation, always seems to get chopped in half or otherwise adulterated: all 18 minutes and 12 seconds of the original vinyl version of KING KONG I bought this LP when it was first released. The world was never the same again.

I'm pretty sure Ram Dass would appreciate this thread. He may well have been a Zappa fan himself. I wonder if he might have even figured out what Burnt Weenie Sandwich was all about?
