Among Washington state mountains named after cherry cultivars, Bing peak is the lesser known one. While Bing Peak is only 4500ft high, it turned out to be not an easy peak to climb - there is no trail and the ridge is climbing more than 3000' in less than a mile. So yeah, this was the slowest mile I have ever hiked. Towards the summit it becomes a maze of snowy ledges, gullies and cliffs, I was definitely thankful for the ice axe. Other things Bing Peak has going for it: old growth giant trees, undisturbed wildlife, and amazing views towards Lennox. Precious little pocket of true wilderness.

I met this deer boi on Christmas high up in the mountains, he must be one with Santa.

P.S. It was a truly magical moment, he was watching me for a very long time without moving.

Nice! Bing and Crosby have a certain ring to them. Indeed, there is some wonderful forest on the lower slopes.

I need to check out Crosby sometime too. A few years ago I snowshoed up to Lennox too and it was absolutely amazing - this area is just so wonderfully wild. Seen so many wildlife footprints in the snow too! Do you think Crosby is a safe outing for snowshoes, or better left for non snowy weather?

I think it's a good summer trip. It should go OK with snowshoes as well but there is some steepish terrain below Boner Lake.
