Mount Tahoma Trails are great for snowshoeing in the winter. We reserved the Yurt for an overnight last Thursday the 1st. As we drove in there wasn't much snow so we were able to park at the upper snow park lot. We set off on foot and took the Lower Yurt Trail. It was a magical traipse through the snow covered pines. As we broke out of the trees and ventured back onto the forest roads the snow was much deeper and our snow shoes came in handy. The Yurt was so cozy and perfect for an overnight adventure in the snow with kids. The views don't compare to the majestic vistas up at Bruni's Snow Bowl and High Hut but the solitude this deep into the woods is wondrous. It rained all night Thursday and washed out a lot of the snow that accumulated the day we hiked in. We decided to head out via the Snow Bowl route so the kids could sled their way down the forest roads. It was a little more of a climb up to the Bowl turn-off than we had prepared them for and they were not too happy about it. The forest roads had quite a few bare spots but there was still enough snow for sledding most of the way down, so they eventually forgave us:) Full story at https://ourdirtpaths.wordpress.com/2020/01/10/yurt-going-to-love-this-mount-tahoma-trails-snowshoe/
