One of the best rock drummers of all time. 67, brain cancer.  Rush is one of my favorite bands.

Oh, no....I enjoyed watching him "at work". Although it was on youtube, never had the opportunity to see them live.

And so young...

Peart, IMNSHO, is one of the very best rock drummers of all time, like top 3.

Have always loved Rush.  We listened to 2112, Hemispheres, and Exit Stage Left at our poker game last night.

I really liked watching Neil Peary play.   (Utube).   Besides being an absolutely amazing drummer, he was an interesting man.   Sad to hear hed passed.

I get how opinions are, subjective.  Ive seen Rush many times.  If there was a more talented musical drummer out there Ive never seen him.

God bless Neil.

Indeed. I don't know that there are any *more* talented drummers but arguments can be made for *as* talented.  John Bonham is another of my all-time faves and I think he belongs in that "top 3" bracket.  Perhaps Ginger Baker to round out the triumvirate?

Different talents, different styles. Neil was the most precise technical drummer ever, but he couldn't swing his way out of a paper bag. Jeff Porcaro was equally as talented, but he could put that groove right in the pocket. (Steve Smith also wildly talented.) Neither better nor worse, just different, each at the top of their game, and now, both gone. The heartbeat of Rush has ceased and so it is the final death of that wondrous and wonderful experiment. I am crushed, and I feel for dear Olivia who will now grow up without her daddy.

Wrote many of the lyrics for those unique and emphatic arrangements.  No one sounds like Rush.  Never saw them live but in YouTube I am amazed three dudes can pump out that much tight music.

I had the great pleasure of being front row stage left for that tour when they played White River. One of several deep memories that I will forever treasure.
