If anyone had plans to head up there anytime soon, you may want to read this. https://www.nps.gov/mora/learn/news/winter-storms-impact-park-operations.htm?fbclid=IwAR08Bk4ytTr-PUM9y3s-yRO9sQgkzOC_RXk-700DAh-T3x7EUZF_99zIjUE

God, I am going to regret this someday!

Following the @MountRainierNPS Twitter feed https://twitter.com/MountRainierNPS is an efficient way of keeping track of the road status. Yeah the road has been closed at the entrance for days.

Whether road is open to the public or not -- the staff is keeping the Paradise road and lot plowed.

Oh, they keep plowing. And unless something has drastically changed, the commercial guide services are allowed past the public closures. So the park isn't closed, it's just closed to the public. You want in, pay a guide service.

If not now, when?

I understand their priorities, but if they go too long without plowing from Longmire to Paradise then it could easily get to the point where they can't plow it at all for the winter.
Snow blower...

The park has a snow blower and it gets used all winter. It was visible on the web cams earlier today. I was scheduled to volunteer with Nordic Patrol this weekend but that got canceled because of the closure.
