* I know you're going to think this is a bit nutty, but.... Mr. Peanut, the dapper Planters icon, is dead at 104

It is with heavy hearts that we confirm that Mr. Peanut has died at 104. In the ultimate selfless act, he sacrificed himself to save his friends when they needed him most. Please pay your respects with #RIPeanut

Grew up 20 miles south of San Francisco. Planters had a "factory" just north of where they built Candlestick Park. Along the roof where it met the building's walls, they placed numerous statues of Mr Peanut, probably a couple of feet tall. The Bayshore Freeway ran close by. When driving north to the city, my brothers and sister and I would each try to be the first to call out that we could see the Mr. Peanuts. Easily amused. Nowadays we would probably only see our tablet screens.

I seriously doubt that Mr. Peanut will rest in peace.
