Dolly didn't win at Westminster So cute, and a good story. Whenever I see a corgi these days, I'm reminded of the many Al anecdotes in Wolffie's posts. Who, if I recall, is getting kinda long in the tooth (Al, not Wolffie). Haven't heard much about him lately. Uh-oh.

Like most of the viewers, I fell in love with Daniel the golden retriever (FYI, my late Hysson, see my avatar, was 1/4 golden, the rest Lab). I loved the pic of his proudly carrying his ribbon for Best Sporting Dog. Here's Daniel! #danielwasrobbed From this morning's New York Times:
Quote:
On Wednesday, Daniel was sanguine about the loss. “He is happy to be home and just hanging out,” Tammy Tomlinson, one of Daniel’s owners, said in an interview. “This morning, he dug himself a nice hole in the backyard and decided to lie in it,” she added.

Five-year-old Daniel was the crowd favorite at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show on Tuesday: His performance reportedly had those in attendance at Madison Square Garden chanting his name, and his ultimate loss to fellow competitor Siba the standard poodle drew ire online.
If this doesn't bring TAH out of the woodwork nothing will.

I wouldn't mind seeing him back--he at least livened up the place!

I love TAH's TRs; his hand-drawn cartoon of the Mt. Si trail is outstanding; real poster-caliber material. I googled him and discovered that he has a number of online accounts that haven't seen action in quite some time. Maybe he's left the territory or quit hiking altogether because of the relentless onslaught of poodles, morons, and poop bags. frown.gif

I think Mr. TAH left the area, probably residing in Barstow, CA. Stumbled across what I am pretty sure was his Facebook page a while back.

Arrgghh...a Standard in the goofy swimmer cut isn' t even my idea of a big dog while Daniel would be welcome in my yard/ house/beach/ trail....off leash...any day. Westminster has a huge website...the same breeds are group champs time and again. IMO, a huge emphasis is on lineage, pedigree, and blood lines. Unseen by the casual audience are the breeders who specialize in SHOW dogs...not gun dogs or watch dogs or seeing eye dogs or Daniel dogs.

I never met a dog I didn't like...to borrow from a famous author from long ago.
