Correct, he was found on the Middle Fork Rd about 10:30 this morning. He had descended into the valley via Rock Creek and had intended to visit Goldmyer then climb back up the next day. He was equipped for one overnight. It turned into 3 when the conditions slowed him down. He decided to walk out the MFK. He did have a cell signal when he reached Hell Hill and made a call.
We sent a vehicle into the MFK this morning, picked him up and drove him back to Alpental.
A happy ending. Luckily he was well enough prepared for the 2 extra nights. Weather was mixed snow and rain.

Thanks so much for filling us in, car68. I was wondering what route he would have taken. Hopefully he left his route information with someone back home. Definitely an adventure. I would love to hear more of the story if you have a link to something. ~z
Found this on Facebook.

He had texted a friend with his plan. Except the exact route wasn't mentioned. When the car wasn't found on the MFK at the barricades we checked the Alpental lot.
Found later that he had emailed his itinerary but the recipient didn't see it. He told us he did carry an avalanche beacon while he was out and it was on.
I wonder how many solo skiers snowshoers etc do that? It's very helpful if your trip turns into a rescue.
