I was finally able to take advantage of my Powder Alliance agreement and ski free at Schweitzer and Whitewater. In hindsight I should have taken my camera, but would have faced shutter delay stops through some highly picturesque scenery between Sandpoint and Nelson. I drove up the lightly used east bank of Kootenay Lake and took the free ferry across to access Nelson, which is a delightful town. Can't wait to go back. I followed the Columbia down through Kettle Falls, Hunters, and Highway 2. This area has spectacular views in its own right.
Back home I hit the trails at Ski Hill, some of which have now dried out and firmed up enough to allow users. (Freund is still closed.)...And as mentioned in the "Tick" post. They're out...

Nice! My son went skiing at Scweitzer this winter and one of the workers gave him a free lift ticket, they must give the workers a few freebees. Can't believe it costs 80 bucks to ski for a few hours.
