Monday I was very fortunate to be able to spend what was probably the best day of the year so far enjoying warm sun and blue sky up on the Skyline Lake Trail. Hiking Partner and I went up in the early afternoon and only saw a few other groups, most of them coming back down. Many wore snowshoes, but I was fine in Microspikes and Hiking Partner wore boots with good tread. There was so much snow up at the Pass!

Skyline Lake looked like a herd of buffalo had been through the day before, and we were very thankful to be there on a Monday. It was so warm I just hiked in my shirtsleeves, but the footing was nicely consolidated and easy to travel on.

We followed the trail up the ridge above the lake to a little false summit and the views were superb!

Then we looped back under the summit for even more exquisite views.

We stopped at the lake for lunch and basked in the late afternoon sun before heading back down, just in time too, because once we reached the shady part of the trail, the temperature dropped and we were reminded that it’s not quite spring yet!
