I was up there more than a month ago. After several miles the road was covered in snow, with a pair of tire tracks worn down to the pavement. The road was no longer drivable after 8 miles, at the first official campground. Icy, slippery snow.
I'd love to know what it's like now - how far you can drive in an average clearance car, what the snow is like there. I called the Marblemount Wilderness Information Center, but they haven't opened for the season yet.
It's a week old, but someone posted on Cascade Climbers:
"As of Sunday snow starts at milepost 13. It's continuous and too deep for a forester for the next mile, then patchy discontinuous with long melted out sections til milepost 17.5. Then continuous the rest of the way to cascade pass trailhead."
