Well, ski resorts are closed, the weather is looking decent, and everyone is stir crazy. So I thought I'd go out this weekend for solo overnight backpacking. I'd like to go on snow. I have snowshoes and microspikes. Any recommendations? Willing to drive 2-3 hours max, willing to hike 5 hours max. Thanks!

You should find plenty of snow in the Teanaway. There are a lot of beautiful spots along the river and most of the creeks that feed into it.

@Jeff, oops, sorry, 2-3 hours from East Side. @Cyclopath, I was looking into Teanaway area but wasn't as familiar with the winter accessible trails.

Where in the Teanaway depends on how far you can drive. Assuming you get out at 29 Pines (the snow park and the end of the pavement) the side road toward the Bean TH is lovely. You can camp almost anywhere on the main road after about a mile in, and there are a lot of beautiful riverside camps.

Thanks for the recommendations. I ended up going to Surprise Lake on Friday. I think I'll head to Teanaway this coming weekend. [edit] fixed photo
