Somewhere over that way (just north of the Arboretum) was a similar structure back in the day. I used to jump off it into the lake during the late 80's. Fun times. I tried looking at Google Satellite view, but there's been some changes. I think we were on what they now call SDOT peninsula. ~z

^^^^ I have noticed quite a lot more litter around the ranger station and campgrounds near Verlot, brown TP just thrown on the trail...
Someone PM'd me as to whether I knew if the MLH was re-opened....today was insane traffic, think long weekend in July busy. However, the closure sign is still up across from the ranger station, so not sure. I was wondering where the hell they were all going? Lake 22?

Chuckanut drive to the clothing optional beach today. Amazing weather, didn't bring sunblock so actually had to get dressed after a couple hours or would have burned. It's a cool little hike down a trail about 250' feet, nearly vertical and ropes are place for assistance up and down.
There were about 10 people, all practicing social distancing other than the 4 naked dudes ( I kept my distance) who seemed to be "regulars". There were 3 ladies present, unfortunately all clothed.
On the way back I noticed that several cars were at the Oyster Dome TH and hikers heading up. I was tempted to hike it, but just whistled at the yoga pants clad hotties and headed home.
I will try to post pics later...kind of forgot how, Tom said to install the Google photos app and that will work. Peace.

Long bike ride home after a brief trip in to work last week.
Weekend run from Wallingford to Discovery Park and back. Early enough to avoid crowds but on the way back there were a lot of people out and about. Burke Gilman trail was getting too busy. There is just no way to effectively separate all the people stuck in the city on a narrow strip of pavement.

Opus, I was just thinking we were due for another one from you. Great job capturing some of Seattle's personality.

Yeah the BG continues to be an unsettling experience, and outside of the city (where it's wider and less used and is the only alternative to 522 in places) it's technically closed to non essential use.

Does anyone know when the Smith Tower was no longer the tallest building in Seattle?

According to wikipedia, "It remained the tallest building on the West Coast for nearly half a century until the Space Needle overtook it in 1962."

It certainly doesn't help that the city keeps changing how they divide up traffic. Some areas it's "everyone stay to the right", the way it should be. Then other areas it's marked for foot traffic one side, bikes the other. And not even consistent which side! The short bit UW redid through the dorms is very nice. I think they were going to extend that through their property. Hopefully the city does the same.
