It's just not a particularly good example. He was initially charged with a low-level, non-violent offense. Could have bonded out himself with just $2,500. So it's not like he couldn't have gotten out pending trial anyways.
In essence, his bail was reduced from a modest $2,500 to 0.
That's an interesting argument in terms of bail!
On the other hand, it is a very good example. Someone considered to be low risk when on to be ultimate risk.....to his victim.
And yet I believe I have been reading that the reason not to be concerned is that they're only releasing low risk prisoners.
