I'll leave it brief cause it's a super short hike. On the trail to mud lake off HWY410 I ran across a group of at least 3 Badgers. We had a literal hissing match, and a little bluff charge before they finally moved off the trail. Just use caution if you go up this way. Pics below

Wow. I am jealous. I never got to hiss at a Badger before. Did you do a nice hiss like, "hey, can I take an Instagram photo with you?" or did you do a hiss like, "don't let me get my wolverine friends!"

Art is an adventure.

Definitely was the "don't let me get my wolverine friends!" Hiss Mountainfisher. The lake winterkilled 2 years ago and even though wdfw put 200 fingerlings in there April 2019, it seems the lake still has not recovered, I have been up that way a lot hunting and fishing since and not gotten a single bite, or seen any rises. Which is sad ,mud lake is such a great lake when it has fish.

Thanks-That’s what I was wondering about Mud Lake. I’ve gotten out of the habit of going there but see cars parked at the pull off where the trail goes up and wonder what it’s like. Winterkills pretty frequently.

Beautiful, how lucky to see them! Don't mess with Mama!

It is known among various experts that the badgers are getting out of hand in certain locals

Went up there today. The first 100 feet of the trail right off 410 was a bit a overgrown but then breaks out into the open. Short trail to the lake gains about 400 in about 1/2 mile. I then walked the green dot road past the lake for 8 miles total. No ticks, snakes, people, or badgers seen. Also lots of traffic already headed east over White Pass. People hauling every imaginable trailer, rv, boat, rack of bikes etc. I think this weekend is going to be the most crowded ever in the mountains.
