If you are interesting in stopping a potential Upper Klonaqua Lake draining project, you should contact this advocacy group so you are aware of the next public comment period if/when a permit application is filed:
Everyone in the NWH community who cares about Alpine lakes Wilderness should support ALPS. My personal opinion!

I was thinking of going in paddy go easy and doing a loop of it hitting sprite, and cradle on the way to these lakes. I really appreciate the beta on don't go right so I don't make the same mistake 😅

There is a well-worn, unofficial trail that leads to Upper Klonaqua passing along the south (left) shoreline of Bobs Lake. This trail leaves the main trail to Lower Klonaqua, a bit less than a mile before reaching the lower lake, and roughly follows the outlet stream of Bobs before making a high contour above the south side of the lower lake, then drops down to the SE corner of the upper lake. At the top of the switchbacks on the main trail, just passed the 5000' "no fires" sign, the trail begins a long traverse north (hiker's right) toward the Klonaqua drainage. Near the beginning of the traverse, you will see a well-worn boot path heading left off the main trail (sometimes a cairn here). If you reach the boulder/talus field crossing below a 100' granite cliff on the main trail, you missed it, turn around, and go back down the trail 75-100 yds and it will be more obvious from this POV. This path leads to Bobs Lake, then continues along to Upper Klonaqua. This route avoids bushwhacking around either side of the lower lake.
