I gave BPJ a call to check in and see how things were going. He was in good spirits, all things considered. It was good to catch up with him as we hadn't really touched base since our jaunt up to Kendall Lakes last fall. He is still able to live at home by himself, with assistance from family who live in Ellensburg. His nephew is able to drive him to Seattle for specialist visits. I mentioned a few people in this thread indicated they were in his area and may be able to offer assistance. He wasn't aware of the comments (easy to miss while reading a long thread with a magnifying glass) so I will reach out to a few of you as I suspect he could probably use a little help here or there even if he might not be willing to ask, thank you! Some have been inquiring about the cause of his condition and he said it would be ok pass on this information. The eye doctor(s) he initially saw said his eye function was otherwise normal and referred him to a top specialist. Thankfully he was able to to get in to see the specialist much sooner than otherwise would be possible, due to covid. The specialist also said eyes function was normal, but the optic nerve was inflamed. He was given a very high dose of steroids to reduce the inflammation, but it can take months to know if eyesight will recover. They are waiting for blood work and hoping it is something that may be treatable, so your continued prayers are needed and much appreciated!

Thanks for the update, Tom. Steroids are a wonder drug for inflammation. I think that sounds hopeful. My vision is so important to me, I just can't imagine losing it. I'd be terrified as it happens.

Yes, thanks for the report. Hopefully steroids will do the trick. That would be amazing! I am hopeful for him, very hopeful.

Yes, not to sound overly optimistic as there are scenarios which might not be so good (let's hope not) so continue to keep him in your prayers.

I am glad to hear that there may be some hope for visual recovery. I sure hope that is the case.

People like BPJ are a "dying breed" in America, someone who can speak their mind, without filter, without being "Politically Correct", and ALWAYS stating exactly how they feel without fear of being judged, an yet still LOVED BY MANY. Obviously I have not been blessed with the same attributes. PRAYING FOR YOU BROTHER!

Go placidly amid the noise and waste, and remember what comfort there may be in owning a piece thereof.
