We have been a little late to the game this year, but we finally ventured up to Navajo Pass this last Saturday for a quick one nighter. We got to the Stafford Creek Trailhead around 8:30 and the lot was full but there were spots to park along the road. The trail was dusty and rugged but in great shape. Lots of people in the meadow but no was up on the pass when got there. By the days end there were four other tents up there with us and another one up closer towards Navajo Peak. There was only one snow patch left up top, way down the ridge to the West. So, we just hopped back down the Stafford Creek Trail a bit until we could hear the trickle of water. The views up there are worth the extra work for water. We forgot bug spray and got bit a bit:) But, the breeze up on the pass makes it a little bit harder for the the buggers to hang around too long.
