I made a quick overnighter to Eagle Lakes from the Crater Creek TH. There were over 20 cars in the improved parking area, but probably not surprising. It's become a go-to place for hardy mountain bikers with the Angels' Staircase loop. Saw about a dozen motorcycle riders on the trail, too. Thanks to their efforts, the trail is logged out. I started out accompanied by the big black biting flies and progressed on to hordes of mosquitoes. I had considered a Boiling Lake or upper Eagle campsite. I opted for a "balcony" spot I had seen a quarter mile shy of upper Eagle, with the hope of a breeze in the open area to hold the critters down. At times my strategy worked when the wind blew, other times not so much, but the views were grand. I came back with quite a few bites, but always a delight to visit that area. cool.gif

Timberghost, I knew the forecast was trending up and fortunately beat the heat currently embracing the area. Starting out at 4700', mostly shaded trail, campsite at 7000', and an early morning return to the TH didn't hurt. Mosquitoes didn't seem to mind, however. rolleyes.gif

I believe that is 8083 and not Martin Peak. That North Ridge intrigues me. I may go and see if it has some aesthetic scrambling someday.
