Anyone know about the posted construction, no entry during construction sign(s)? I was up there and wasn't comfortable going through and there is no legal parking before the sign.. There is certainly work being done on the tracks, but no real information. I went elsewher but have wanted to go back up there. Any all info appreciated.

Assume you're talking about the Surprise Lake that abuts the Clearwater Wilderness Area just north of MRNP? If so, Surprise Lake is part of about 1km^2 private property that bisects Cayada Creek Road. My understanding is that logging operations are taking place on the section south of the road, but not near the lake above. There has never been a parking area at the base of the jeep road--and as far as I know, uphill traffic to Summit Lk TH is still allowed. The new clear-cut is visible from Ipsut Creek Road.

I was there earlier in the year with no problem. It is a bit weird, in that the bridge is a bit rickety. But it was fine for crossing even in a low slung sedan (my friend has an old Jetta -- probably the worst mountain car out there). Once crossing the bridge, you then cross the railroad tracks and take a sharp right turn. Some people miss this spot, and keep going straight. Maybe that's what you did? (It is also possible that things changed and they started doing additional work.)

Just got back from two nights there. No problems. Slow in a Corolla was fine over the bridge. (It does look very weird, like they covered the bridge in whatever scraps of lumber they had laying around.) After crossing the bridge, head to your right, cross the tracks and turn right to get to the trailhead.
