up.gif Nice. I hiked up Trapper a number of years ago, fantastic view of some of the rest of the Bitterroot Range from there. I watched a marmot actually eating some small rocks while I was on the summit. I may have deposited a little salt on them. rolleyes.gif Still I would've thought licking would've been preferable.

I always meant to do more exploring in the Bitterroots, still on the back burner. I went part way up Blodgett Canyon during the same road trip when I did Trapper. Kerlee Lake in particular intrigues me. Have you been up there?

I have not been there. I definitely want to check out Blodgett Canyon eventually.

There was a juvenile moose crashing around a creek bed by the trailhead/campground area when I hiked Blodgett. I didn't get up to the lake, but I was impressed with the rock walls on either side.

We stayed in the Bitterroot Valley a couple years ago for a few nights on a road trip. We hiked to Coquina Lake from Bear Creek Pass with the kids. Really nice and quiet area.

I got in Trapper Peak last week! Fun hike! Now that I'm home, I started researching the area and found your blog. Such a wealth of information it is! Thanks for the work you put into it! I can't wait to go back! Cheers!

In 1968 while working for the USGS in the Salmon River Primitive Area, operating out of the Magruder Ranger Station on the Selway River in Idaho, we drove by Trappers many times when going to Hamilton or Darby for supplies.. It looked appealing so on a day off I hiked the summit trail. It was a grand view on top.

Passing rocks and trees like they were standing still
