When I'm going somewhere that I know is going to be silty, muddy, cloudy, etc., I take either my old MSR Miniworks (with a coffee filter rubber banded over the intake), or my MSR Guardian (which can filter almost any water source without clogging). If I have my Sawyer Squeeze filter, then I'll let the water settle in a container before filtering.

The only easy day was yesterday...
