Has anyone been camping in the Wallow-Whitman NF this year in the NE corner of Oregon? Was there a lot of competition for campsites? We are thinking of heading that direction, but are a bit nervous because of the problems we had a few weeks ago in the Randle/Mt. Adams area finding spots.

Go, we went to the Lostine river and found plenty of dispersed sites. We were ready to much further but didn't have to.

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,I took the one less traveled by. And that has made all the difference. Robert Frost

I just got back from 3 days hiking up above the Lostine canyon. Two Pan TH was jam packed. I parked 1/4-mile down the road Wednesday and the line had extended another 100 yards or so by Friday. The campgrounds along the way had people in them, but I didn't look close enough to know if they were at capacity.

Are you going during the week? I was there a few weeks ago during the week and we had no trouble finding spots at Ice and Horseshoe lake. The weekend would obviously be more crowded - not sure I would backpack there on a weekend, especially during peak season.

And this year is especially bad due to COVID. I have friends who run a bed-n-breakfast in the area and they report that tourism has exploded because so many people have nothing else they can (legally) do.

We backpacked from Two Pan TH on weekdays in September a few years ago, and there were 50 cars at the th. It's a busy area in general. Worse I'm sure this year like you said.
