That would be way cool (to see them), but also very unlikely. They are far from any trail, though they do cover a lot of ground. The scientist behind all this, Jocelyn Akins of Cascade Carnivore Project, quoted in the press release, was also responsible for finding the first breeding pair of wolverines on Mt Adams a few years back. She clearly has figured out how to find these rare animals, and it does involve lots of off-trail travel. I was talking to her about her efforts near Rainier earlier this year when she took some snowshoe trips in the park - though I ain't tellin' where.

We would see a wolverine as it darted across the road by Bonaparte Lake. That was about 25 years ago. There were numerous sightings of that beast.
What's especially fun about sock puppets is that you can make each one unique and individual, so that they each have special characters. And they don't have to be human––animals and aliens are great possibilities

the only animal I know of that would take on a griz and win.
once saw a photo of a wolverine with its jaws locked on the nose of a griz in a river, where it had held on long enough to drown the griz

Pretty sure I saw a wolverine near Shadow Lake at dusk (near Sunrise walk-in camp) in 2021.

This is very good news. You never know when you might see one, especially if you travel off the beaten path. We are fairly certain we saw one up above Mt. Adams High Camp the same year they were spotted in that area.
