For a variety of reasons, I have tried to get to the unnamed lake below Windfall Peak several times, from the Grand Valley side, starting four years ago, but this has been a race between advancing years and desire, I fear. I see one report from someone who did a huge long day run to the top of Windfall Peak from Obstruction point, but not down TO the lake itself, 23 miles? Impressive. There are a couple reports of people who did a traverse down to the Elwha from that ridge over the Stone Creek drainage and rockfall, but that drop-off is well before Windfall itself. I surely should have made these efforts years ago, but after 2012 I went to sea for work and did not hike again until 2018. This year I made two trips in there and had to come out after one or two days, but finally got the weather break needed. My results are nearly pathetic, but here they are:
Enjoyed the video. Thanks for sharing.
I can relate to the getting older part. I am a little older than you and it reminds me so much of some of my hikes. I plan these trips sometimes and have to remind myself that I just can't cover the territory I used to.
It is still fun to get out there though.
