This is not a matter of pointing the finger at one person and bashing him with a mallet. It is matter of emphasizing public safety regarding wildfire prevention and when it is appropriate to build a campfire and when it is not. Conditions at the time were posted extreme by the USDA Forest Service "Fire Boys." Anyone with good situational awareness and bush craft skills would not make a campfire under the environmental conditions at that time. This lack of sense of wilderness stewardship by some people from metropolitan areas visiting the east side seems to be lacking in my opinion; since I am exposed to it frequently. Again, this is not a personal point the finger at one person exchange of opinions. It is bringing forward wildfire prevention, resource damage and preserving federal wilderness lands for present and future generations. Get it? agree.gif

Just had a lot of fun using my ignore button. I have had enough vitriol from so many of you older pompous, self righteous, know-it-all, snarky, pie boasting, corroded copper, curmudgeonly jerks. I even ignored a poster who seems to have a large void portion between his ears.( Yeah, now I seem to fit into the self righteous category, but at least I am aware....)

lol.gif up.gif got a good laugh out of this, thanks. Just checked: the nwhaters.net domain is still available! Maybe someone could create that site to help siphon some traffic from here and clean this place up a little. Just think: a site dedicated to unlimited flame wars (no pun intended), middle school-esque drama, armchair quarterbacking, 'gotcha' comments, snark, witch hunts, politics, and just general negativity and toxicity. No moderation required! I think a lot of posters from this site would have a field day with that, and it would leave more room for actual quality content here like cascadetraverser's Sawtooths TR (great looking trip, btw!) Sorry for the rant...geez, why do I even read Trail Talk? clown.gif

Biblical Proverb: "Never argue with a fool." I'm out of here. To many overly sensitive people taking it personally and not looking at it objectively. Campfire was simply made wrong place and wrong time. Simple as that.

The no spray rule says that if you see an issue in a TR -- start a new thread in Trail Talk to discuss the issue instead of commenting in the TR itself. So this thread follows that rule.
Oops. thanks for the clarification. looks like I'm the rabble rouser then.

This isn't the site for people that need a gold star for everything they do, that's for sure. Anyone that comes here is going to have to take their lumps for doing anything unethical/illegal/dumb. There's plenty of other places to post if someone just needs "likes" for everything they do.

You bashing people from metropolitan areas is really silly, given that so many fires start from rural folks burning in their backyards during high winds. https://crosscut.com/2020/07/yard-burning-causing-rise-washington-wildfires

Someone better call the smoker jumpers on this thread! This blaze could easily expand to 8 pages if not kept in check!

Keep digging Ski. Oval Lakes are in Okanogan County not Chelan.

It would appear then, that even had the current state-wide fire ban not been in effect, a fire that large would be illegal. Did anyone check to see if the domain nwcrybabies.net was available?
You wasted a fire Marshall's time during fire season on this, just to get the last word on an internet argument????? Check to see if nwnitpickers.net is available. Or, instead of that, go take a nice long walk and watch the sunset. Peace to everyone.

Wow. I want to say thank you to cascadetraverser for helping out somebody in their medical need during an evacuation on the Stehekin. Thank you!
