Smoky skies return to Seattle, then comes the heat again
https://komonews.com/news/local/smoky-skies-return-to-seattle-then-comes-the-heat-again
Brief summary: it's going to stay aloft for a few days and not have much impact on the air we breathe. Sunsets will be affected starting today. In a few days it may get worse and come to ground level.
You can already see it from Seattle and the air smells a little like smoke outside.
For what it's worth, I'm running a bunch of air purifiers and I remember them helping from years past. Also trying to get my bike fix while the breathing is good. It's already hard to decide where to hike this weekend knowing how crowded it will be, I'm thinking in light of the news it isn't the time for view hikes.

I’m avoiding smoke and crowds and heat by heading to the beach. Plenty of campsites available at Ocean City SP Monday and Tuesday nights.
Sat and Sun I think I’ll head over to Baker lake to go swimming in pure wilderness glacier water. Mmmmmmm.

I’ve heard people hiking and running around Snoqualmie Pass this morning complain about the smoke affecting them. Any reports on how bad it is further north?

On my bike ride this morning at the point where there is peek a boo view of Rainier there was only murk and the view towards Mt Si only the bottom of the mountain was visible with the Haystack engulfed in gray.

The top of Rainier is invisible but the bottom can be seen from the S end of Seattle. Meaning the smoke is still mostly aloft.
Slightly more colorful sun year evening.

It was definitely hazy even at Rainier today and getting worse as the day wore on. The mountain itself was out and it was a hot sunny day at Sunrise, but as soon as I got back to Enumclaw It was already cloudy/gloomy.

Here's some smoke.
This was taken from my street. I'm betting that this is a rekindling of a brushfire that burned through the area a few weeks ago maybe in June? That fire got into an area where there are mass quantities of sawdust from the now closed lumber mill. They used to dump it in that area. It has been smoldering since--wisps of smoke could be seen. We are having extreme winds so it erupted about an hour ago.
Winds are blowing away from town towards the southeast.
This smoke blocks the view of the Cold Springs Fire, which erupted last night on the Colville Res. near Omak Lake. The Cold Springs fire has jumped the Columbia River and the area between it and Mansfield is on alert.
What's especially fun about sock puppets is that you can make each one unique and individual, so that they each have special characters. And they don't have to be human––animals and aliens are great possibilities

Hard hot East winds in Issaquah knocked over our tomatoes and very smoky outside. Lots o shiz on patio keep hearing things hitting roof and skylights. If there is a spark somewhere bad news.

West Seattle lost power today, probably unrelated. Cause not known yet.
AQI was 8 earlier today, it's currently 189, and has been getting worse, so this probably isn't as bad as it'll get.
Particulate visible under street lights. Everything smells like campfire.
Indoors, no smoke smell. I'm running a lot of air purifiers and they're working. Kitty has asthma.

I used to live in West Seattle and had come to the realization that West Seattle loses power every time someone farts. But it is a bit breezy (not fart-related), could be a tree down. I'm in Lake Forest Park and lights have been flickering (not fart-related).
The smoke smell just hit about 20 minutes ago. Very strong (also not fart-related)
Hoping kitty does well.
