Looks like Mt Steel from Lacrosse Lake basin in ONP
Steel has some pointy points on the summit that do not show up on Google Earth
Also see Dane's pic here, very near the same spot: pic

Wow ... nice guess. I agree, but would never have gone there. What made you? Looks like a ranger or could it be even earlier ... part of the the O'Neil expedition? Or, did the Press go up there too? I think I remember they did from the account I read. Both would be using mules. Where'd you see the photo Schroder? My shot from LaCrosse Basin

Thanks! I was thinking it might be in the Olympics.

the two little 'owl ear' points near the summit are rather distinct. I spent the night up there once a while ago. I also spent several days in Lacrosse basin last June, and clearly stared over that way for far too long. That and I feel like photos of the Olympics stand out from the Cascades; something about the relief of the peaks, the way the vegetation grows, the vistas, etc smile.gif

up.gif Camped up there twice for a few days each and also gazed upon both Steel and Duckabush a lot (see my signature photo <--) ... but for some reason I was thinking middle Cascades, which I'm not that familiar with. Still, even if I'd known it was in the Olys, I probably wouldn't have guessed. You have a very keen eye!

Someone on a history site found this in their father's belongings and asked for help finding out anything about it. Your photo seems to be almost in exactly the same spot.
