Many of my Wonderland Trail transits have been over 3 days, especially in the 90's. In 2009 I chronicled my journey and did a 3 part video series, one for each day. I was not in good shape that year and there was a certain amount of suffering. I finished on day 3 at 2:20 AM, basically stumbling at the end. For those unfamiliar, the Wonderland entails 93 miles and 22,000 feet of climb and descent. This year I recorded my 32nd Wonderland using a shoulder mounted GoPro and authored a single video for the entire trip. Although I averaged 17 hour hiking days this year, the difference, both physically and mentally, was acute. Much easier with a minimal amount of pain, due mostly to some miles and elevation under my belt coming into it. Yes, there is hope for us oldsters; barring physical damage that hinders walking, at age 65 I had one of my most enjoyable transits of this trail. This year's video was authored as one, although it is 50 minutes long.
