Took a trip out to Hwy 12 and Goat Rocks. Never been to this area and thought it would make a good late season 2 nighter. I knew I wanted to do the loop for no other reason than to say I did the loop and to bag some peaks on the way. The whole loop is only 12 miles and it seems like most people were going out to Goat Lake then coming back to the Snowgrass TH. After doing the loop I see why, the section after Goat Lake was somewhat dull but after leaving Goat Lake and heading west I didn't see anybody the entire way back to the TH.
I spent two nights at the same camp spot and was able to get water from a spring just below camp. I read that the traverse from Old snowy to Ives is straight forward and it looked interesting with the arch in the rock. Not much to say really, it all went off without a hitch.

Little airy around that corner. Maybe could have dropped down onto scree but not that bad.

Looks like an enjoyable trip! The Goat Rocks always make a great late season trip. I have almost this exact same photo from a few years ago as my computer login screen. Those berry plants really light up in the sunset.
