Does anyone have information on Smarty Creek Trail #371 which meets the North Fork Twentymile Trail #560 about 3 miles east of North Twentymile Peak? This is about 20 miles north of Winthrop up the Chewuch River.
The Smarty Creek approach to North Twentymile Peak is one the hikes listed in Spring and Manning's 1988 1st edition of 100 Hikes in the North Cascades. The trail shows up on 2016 forest service map on Caltopo.com, but isn't listed on the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest website.
The 1988 book says the trail is seldom used, and seldom maintained. I'm wondering if it is still there.
I can say that FS roads 37 and 39 will knock a few bolts from your suspension having travelled it this fall. The TH is still signed and starts in a swampy area.
