As of this morning, most mountain locations have snow depths of 20-30". With additional snow that will likely go up a fair bit, and higher snow levels Sunday PM to Monday will likely create an avalanche cycle - albeit with little in the way of a basal layer except at higher elevations. Normally the North Cascades Highway closes with around 36" of snow. Monday would be a good bet.

I had 40 mph winds at my house all afternoon and through the night last night. All is calm now and I still have power.

Just hard rain here so far, thankfully it looks like the wind stayed more to the south.

Go placidly amid the noise and waste, and remember what comfort there may be in owning a piece thereof.

The entire sound was nothing but white caps last night.

It was more to the west. It hit 56mph at Fort Casey and 59mph at Dungeness Spit. My weather station hit 55.7 at 5:30 this morning.

We had an inch of the white stuff but then it began to rain turning the snow into melty glop. No wind here.

What's especially fun about sock puppets is that you can make each one unique and individual, so that they each have special characters. And they don't have to be human––animals and aliens are great possibilities

Woke up at 2 am this morning and it was monsooning like crazy here in Ballard. Woke up again around 5:30, and it was more of the same, so I surmised what the snow situation would be like at high elevations. It's kind of reassuring that we're still getting what long-timers consider "normal winter weather" for this time of year. I can remember a few good blows that spoiled many a Thanksgiving when the power would blow out - even in the Seattle suburbs.

I think the bright orb is shining here now. Time to go for a walk.

Just noticed that the barometer has taken a nose dive and is off the scale for lowness.

Watching the 5 o' clock news, they were reporting widespread power outages on Whidbey and Camano Islands...we had a bit of a breeze, then the power went out about 5:30. Generator is keeping the lights and tv-net on and wood stove is keeping I and the cats warm, so far so good. wink.gif

I've been without power for 8 hours now. We went to West Beach on Whidbey this afternoon and watched the biggest waves I've ever seen in Washington.

Already back on in Verlot, although the neighbors don't know it, generators are loud. Must have been just a small tree on a line.

Nope, no authority here. Nothing happened. Nada. No storm. Just a really low barometer reading. No cells except for where the jail is. Nothing.
