On 8/27 I climbed Gilbert from the Walput Lake TH. The approach was pleasant with wide, well maintained, and well graded trail all the way to Cispus Pass. From the Pass I followed the ridgeline and quickly found a climber's trail that'll go all the way to the summit. The route was mostly choss walking but there were pockets of solid scrambling amongst the loose stuff. I lucked out with water and found one good flow on the mountain (possibly because the previous night's rain) otherwise the only decent water was early on the nannie ridge trail and at Sheep Lake. No snow encountered.
Nice. We're thinking about one last horah in this neck of the woods in a few days (if the weather is gentle) that would include this peak... and a few others.
Our last trip up Curtis Gilbert.
