This is not new, but I just ran across it while catching up on the Snoqualmie Valley Historical Museum's blog. This post has a collection of photos by Siegrist of North Bend and the surrounding area from 110 years ago. It's fun seeing the I-90 corridor prior to the first round of clear cutting in the 30s and 40s.
A few examples, all taken around 1909
McClellan Butte from a point somewhere near Talapus Lake, maybe the old "Lookout Point" Snoqualmie Pass from McClellan Butte Mt. Si in January, 1909 - essentially no trees on the upper part of the mountain. Mt Teneriffe from Mount Si Haystack on Mount Si

Thanks for this glimpse into the past in such a now-popular area.
We realize that fire is part of the history of any forested area, but it is revealing to see the snags standing tall all over mounts Si and Teneriffe. ( assuming fire kill, not insect or disease).
