I know this isn't a woodworking forum, but maybe someone out there has a small wood lathe they don't want or use any longer. I will be using it for turning fly rod handles/grips. It has been suggested that I make one with a hand drill and one of the many simple kits out there. No, I would prefer a real lathe with good bearings, a stable base, ability to use a variety of chucks and spurs, and a decent tool rest. Size? I only need to be able to turn up to 10-12" in length, with most pieces at 7" long Thanks for checking this out!

Try Seattle Woodturners. The monthly newsletter often has lathes for sale (the November newsletter includes one that may be a little larger than you want, however). https://seattlewoodturners.org/newsletters/

Thanks RBO. I am looking for a used one first, but will buy new if I don't find one.

Just to be clear, I was referring to the want ads in the newsletter which generally feature used equipment

I've purchased equipment from Equipment Sales and Surplus in the past and they have competitive prices and you can go down to Auburn to check out in person. They frequently post S&D stuff in craigslist but you might go a long time before seeing a lathe.
