In order for a society to advance there must be enough people to support the system. Nikola Tesla invented the ac electric motor, soon thereafter washer/dryer came into being but there had to be enough people hired to build the machines, enough people to grow the food and transport it to support the people building the machines,and stores to sell it to all those people... populations drop 2.0 i.e. two children to replace the two adults and you have a stagnate population and no growth and no advances....
Up until the beginning of the industrial revolution, global population grew very slowly. After about 1800 the growth rate accelerated to a peak of 2.1% annually in 1968; but since then, due to the world-wide collapse of the total fertility rate, it has declined to 1.1% today (2020).

this is happening all over the world EXCEPT in africa.

Western economic theory has an axiom of 3% growth. Economists don't have any models for a declining population.
Of course Western Economic theory also "accepts" boom and bust cycles like the financial panic of 1873 and the great depression that put millions into poverty and starvation.
Might be time to figure out a way to manage human society without depending on an ever growing population.
Real Estate agents won't like it -- their business is based on ever increasing housing prices.

Yes, indeed. But it ought to be quite recognizable to anyone that increasing population growth rates are not sustainable indefinitely. And no, we're not going to be able to go live on Mars, etc.

Declining population should equal less green house gasses, seems like a good thing to me.
If you ever drive in Seattle traffic, you will for sure be wishing for less people. After a winter in N Idaho and few people on the roads, it's a difficult transition to this area.

no moonspots we cant go live on mars many people. the overpopulation census for the planet was 1.9 billion which was reached in 1919, today there are 9billion or so and the planet is still here. every body piling into one place is probably not a good thing, but there are still lots of empy places and there seems to be enough food still. the bigger problem is a non mentionable item here.. and no I dont have the answer, but you cant let the population to low or they wont be enough people to support the technology!! be back to grubbin a livin out of the ground again.

All life depends on plants growing in the ground. The current food supply system is based on Green Revolution technology , which uses mechanical plowing, synthetic fertilizers and hybrid grains. Prior to the Green Revolution India was not self-sufficient on grain. Yields increased 10x. India's population has tripled since, so unless birth rates come down, eventually we'll run short on food.
But long before we get to that point, it will be unpleasant, where Seattle is a big as New York and Bozeman is as big as Seattle.
The #1 correlating factor in reduced birth rate for a country is whether women are taught to read. That is probably why groups like the Taliban are bombing girls schools.

This statement about Western Economic theory (whatever that is?) is meaningless and silly. Unless you're suggesting WEt has not evolved or developed at all in the last 90 years? Do you argue that boom/bust cycles now are more volatile, risky and harmful than they were 100 or more years ago?
Also, I've noticed most of your posts conclude with an unrelated accusation, in the form of a question (often w/no question mark though). See examples above. Why do you do this? It reminds me of how our former president communicates his divisive conspiracies.

WTF are you talking about? What does Taliban have to do with global population? Are you really arguing Taliban commits terrorism in the name of raising birth rates? If so, that claim requires more evidence than a non-sequitur.
