This is a fun loop in the desert w/a variety of highlights. I did the hike in a counterclockwise direction, going up the various dry falls of Rainbow, emerging into Blair Valley & swinging north around the ridge (& finding morteros while there), hooking up w/the CRHT & turning west, eventually dropping into Box Canyon & swinging back south through Mason Valley to close the loop. The only time I saw other ppl was a brief section of dirt rd. in Blair Valley as I passed a couple of campers.
