whatever happened to bears hibernating? Must be a result of global warming.
Biologically, bears don't have to hibernate. Its an adaptation because of a lack of food sources. But, if there are food sources, like garbage, then can stay up at just eat that. Sometimes they will also hibernate for a bit, get up, poke around, see if there is anything to eat, then go back to bed. There are many bears that "stay up" all winter around Tahoe because there's garbage to eat.
