Has anyone considered this may have been a Chupacabra?

Non-scream on the CCC: In February 2013 I was mtn biking the CCC, W to E, about halfway between Teneriffe TH and the Bessemer road Xing. Pedaling on the slight uphill, around a bend, I spied a large golden lab sauntering across the road 50 ft ahead of me. It walked off the track, into the brush on the downhill side. A really big dog, I thought. Hmmm. Noticed that it had a tail which was the diameter of a soda can, and about 3 feet long. Not a dog.

Coming down the Spruce trail I heard a low loud bark and continued on and saw a small bear running down the road trail.

I was hiking through Chain Lakes one lovely morning, Bull's Tooth backlit by morning sun, a breeze whispering through branches, birds softly chirping. When all of a sudden there was a blood-curdling scream immediately followed by the sound of crunching bones. It echoed from everywhere, no way to know from where it came. But it was CLOSE! Then silence. Complete silence. No birds chirping, no breeze blowing, nothing but oppressing silence.

I was awoken out of a deep sleep at 2:00 am in the morning by a blood curdling scream up in Merchants Basin in the Chelan Sawtooth's a few years ago. I thought it must have been a cougar or wolverine, but after telling a few people about it I learned that coyotes can sometimes do that after loosing a kill to another animal.

Trigger warning for Schroder's video! If you play it, you might not see your own cat for the rest of the day! stun.gif

Street cats...

Since I have no expectations of forgiveness, I don't do it in the first place. That loop hole needs to be closed to everyone.

Funny. My cat completely ignored it. He yawned when I played it. But he has been an indoor cat his whole life. Oblivious. I’ve never seen a cougar in the wild, though I have seen tracks on top of deer and elk tracks. But I have had the distinct feeling I have been stalked by one several times. Deciduous woodlands, which have a blacktail population, are bound to have cougars.

Our cat perked up and appeared nervous but went back to sleep.

What I heard was a one or two second single high pitched scream followed by an other-worldly almost barking sound. I really don't think it was from a cat.

Oh hmm... I heard this sound near sunset when I was backpacking solo around Mt St Helens last summer! Really creeped me out, but I thought it was just some kind of angry bird...
