Is it hiding in one of the pictures?
Several years ago I did a day hike along the north end of the Lost Coast. Before the trip I'd seen several mentions of rattlers there. I was kinda freaked out a good portion of the hike traipsing along ankle high grass/brush. Never saw/heard one, but it was a bit of a distraction.
I did see a good sized rattler at Montana de Oro SP, but it was out in the open and easy to see from a distance. It had been a cool, foggy morning and it seemed fairly sluggish. I don't hate rattlers, I just don't like the possibility of having no idea they are there and then getting nailed.
Yep, it was hiding. As I remember it didn't even rattle, I just happen to see it move thru the grass.
