Still buzzing from our visit to Cathedral Gorge, our next stop was Kodachrome Basin State Park near Cannonville, Utah. The drive there from Cathedral Gorge was just great scenery the whole way as soon as we got to Cedar City. Just short of Bryce Canyon we came to Red Canyon which has lots of trails. We didn't have a lot of time but managed to get out and hike up and around some of the incredible red rock.
From there it was a short drive past the entrance to Bryce Canyon National Park and down to Cannonville. We waited until around 4:40PM to drive down to Kodachrome Basin so we could hike in the late afternoon sun. Kodachrome Basin is only about a twenty minute drive from Cannonville. We parked at the Oasis Group Camp parking lot and hiked the Angel's Palace Trail. This is a short two mile loop trail with a couple of mini loops included and it gave us a great sampling of what this stunning park has to offer. There are several longer trails in the park as well and I'm looking forward to going back to explore this park further.
