Today is the day for free $500 tents!
Free to a good home: a Zpacks Hexamid Twin tent, the exact version shown in the review I linked to below. It has the “beak”, and the mosquito net floor. I also have the bathtub floor and the two carbon fiber poles to set it up without needing trekking poles. The only thing you will need is 7 or 8 (I forget) titanium tent stakes.
The review is spot on with their pros and cons. Super light, roomy inside, excellent protection from rain and wind. But it is finicky to set up, has ropes heading out in every direction, and is a pain to get in and out of, for a large person especially.

I am hoping the recipient will be someone who needs an ultralight tent but affording one is an issue. But the tent is free, no questions asked.
Suggestion: trestle, maybe that other tent should be for your daughters, and this one for you? Though it is called a “twin”, it is more suitable as a roomy one person tent.

Tom the admin recently gave me an electric bike. I gotta even up that karma!
Looks like you found a good home for yours. Awesome.

She also sometimes takes newbies out backpacking, so extra gear for loaning out would be useful. I am including a Golite Jam pack, a Mountain Hardwear Phantom 32 down bag, an Exped Airmat Basic UL uninsulated air mattress, and a titanium cookpot with attached handles.

I am so incredibly grateful! Everything that Slugman was kind enough to give to me will 100% be used, either by me or my novice hiker buddies/coworkers.The tent is definitely for me though, and I'm going to use the crap out of it this summer! Much better than the old heavy thing I've been lugging around. I just went through a pretty drastic career change, and Slugman's generosity is allowing me to backpack with a tent I would never have been able to afford myself. Thank you X 1 million!

Ha! Right now, in my mind, I’m running up the steps of the library in Philadelphia, the song “Gonna Fly Now” swelling in the background.
I could easily make up another starter kit. A Deuter pack, Sierra Designs bag, Big Agnes insulated pad, and Mountain Hardwear Stiletto tent. I’m on it…..

OK, be at The Sunfish on Alki around 7pm tomorrow. I’ll be coasting in on the electric bike then.

I can't make 7 tomorrow, but if you lock the bike up outside Sunfish and PM me the lock combo, I'll come pick it up asap.

It’s my new pride and joy. I buy it little presents, gussy it up with a bell for urban trail riding, or a front carry bag. Right now I am rigging a harness so I can pull my canoe with it. Wallace lake here I come!
