Since you reminded me, do not eat Chinese food in Crescent City, California.

^^^ It's been a few years (like 10 or more) but I wouldn't eat anywhere in Crescent City (not that there are many options). But I loved, LOVED the retro Curly Redwood Motel. Made out of a single tree's lumber. It was an inexpensive place then.

^ Last time I was down there - which has been quite a few years - there was a joint at the south end of town that served a really good breakfast. That was probably 15 years ago, though. Cannot recall the name of the place.
In addition to the god-awful Chinese place - food which wasn't even fit for starving homeless men - there was a seafood place that served cold clam chowder.
Maybe crappy restaurant food is a Crescent City tradition?
(Hope you're enjoying the emails. I'm getting slammed with some hilarious stuff lately.)

I have a relative who has lived in Crescent City for quite some time, just PM'd her to validate this hearsay.

This was their response, I will ask her specifics on the best food in CC, just in case...lol.
"Lol! A current comment/opinion based upon a 10 & 15 year old food experience makes me question the motive. Why would a person come to a coastal sea port town and have an expectation for Chinese food. We have excellent restaurants that serve quality food. The "really good breakfast" south of town is where my daughter works. Any food establishment can have certain dishes that are not to another persons liking, similar to "one man's trash is another man's treasure"!! Crescent City has a population of less then 8000, of that most likely less then 1% Asian and as of 2021 only 1 "Chinese" & 2 Thai restaurants open The Redwoods are a wonderful area to hike in and I hope you come visit sometime!".

For breakfast, lunch & dinner (good seafood)"Fisherman's restaurant", lunch, dinner (good seafood) "https://jambalaya.house/" Good Harvest and Thai food Sea West (Fort Dick) . There are others that have great food and some that are ho hum! In the summer most are usually packed. But that's a good thing for this little town.

We have had nothing but lousy experiences in CC this includes extended family. It is the only place I have been where we both got sick from a bagged Safeway salad. only stayed once and the motel was crappy. Remember I stand up for CA most of the time.
