My friend cancelled a trip to the T'way this weekend because of the smoke. I loved at the map and did the same thing. Plan was to do Bean to get to Devil's Head, and maybe Volcanic Neck depending how the route looks. I went for a bike ride instead. Much less satisfying. I'm glad you guys had a good time. Now I'm tempted to go Monday. smile.gif

Too bad we're not friends. That was our route!

I wonder how many others followed suit? This Thursday and Friday seemed relatively lite on highway 2 for a holiday weekend. Less then midweek traffic last year. Last week it was the heat that made for easy driving.

Really pleasantly surprised by how clear WA pass was yesterday - definitely a little bit of haze in the distance but the views were still incredible. Apparently it was hazier on Friday, and the wind cleared most of it out by yesterday

Not like that today at all, at least further west. From Trappers peak all the surrounding peaks were smoky today, especially toward the east.

You can't see the Cascades from Port Townsend or the Hood Canal Bridge today. Seattle is more smokey than yesterday. bawl.gif

The smoke varied today. The BC fires seem to be popping up nearer and nearer. The good news is that I've not heard any fireworks going off. None.

What's especially fun about sock puppets is that you can make each one unique and individual, so that they each have special characters. And they don't have to be human––animals and aliens are great possibilities

Wow that is quite something, which area are you based? Here in N Bend it sounded like war of the worlds from 9-2am. Saw several rockets shooting from rattlesnake ledge into the forests. Luckily no fires but major impact on air quality (pm2.5) which spiked to 161.

My cats were unhappy with the fireworks. I'm eager to hear smoke reports from anyone who braves the mountains today. smile.gif

Okanogan Valley. Have heard that Tonasket also was silent also. It is beastly dry and hot around here. We are a bit on edge.

Sounds like a lovely place to live. Fingers crossed for you all that no fires are started, I can imagine everyone is on edge and worried.

I was thinking about this last night. It's pretty disturbing even as a human but pets could easily be distressed by the sounds especially since they have superior hearing. Let's hope people have had their fill and it's over for another year.

Teanaway was great over the 3 day weekend. Could see Rainier and Glacier fine.

There was a guy blasting off Big Boys off his back patio! Just sendin em up through that narrow slot between the house and the trees!! You could tell because the fireworks emerged from behind his house!! Caused an extremely smoky microclimate!!!

The smoke moved into Ketchikan this evening. Time to come home.
