Nice evening workout. Headed in via the old Commonwealth Basin trail and followed it up to Red Pond and then up to the 5400' knob at Red Pass. Great views to the north and south - could even see the smoke plume from the Cedar Creek fire. Light breeze kept most of the flying vampires away. Headed back down at dusk and got back to the car just as the stars were coming out.

Red Pond melted out fast! It was still quite snowy 10 days ago.

Some good critter shots. I like the false hellebore too.

This is a cool find -- I have not seen that on several trips in that area. I won't ask you where it was because it will disappear.

Lovely area, big snow and thompson come together nicely from there. How was the chute down the old CCT near the abandoned sign up top? Did you see if it was melted?

If I recall correctly, the only lingering snow was in the valley below the CCT. Might have been a patch or two on the route, but nothing that stood out to me.
