Driving west on I-90 this afternoon coming back from a backpack trip and we could see smoke from a small file on the north slopes below McClellan Butte, south of I-90. I don't recall what there is in the way of roads up there but given the weather conditions it most likely is human caused.

According to MBS Facebook page, the fire is out. 1.4 acres.

That is sad humans create these fires. With so many fires caused by people it will not help the climate change.

I was at exit 42 about 11:30am Thursday and heard shooting above us. Sounded like it was at the gate at the end of the FS road above. I wonder if my time frame matches.

I had been intending to hike McClellan Butte yesterday, but after hearing about the fire, I picked a different hike across the valley (Dirty Harry's peak). On the way out, I could see smoke coming from an area to the left of and well below McClellan's peak (seemed like just smoldering), but on my way down, the smoke was completely gone.

Not trying to drift into gun debates, but this was one of my first thoughts when I heard there was a fire in that area. Looking forward to finding out the cause.

According to the Mt Baker Snoqualmie National Forest facebook page it was caused by target shooting: https://www.facebook.com/MtBakerSnoqualmieNF/photos/a.469240823106798/4544259652271541/ Incredibly glad they were able to put it out so quickly

That is where we got our Xmas tree a couple years ago.

I could see the remains of this (I think) driving down I-90 yesterday. It looked very small... dozen or less scorched trees.
