Looking to get out (CdA area) for a short hike, maybe a thou or two of vertical gain, and a summit view. Ideally not having to drive more than an hour. Got any advice? I see the Mt. Spokane State Park, but I don't see too much climbing there unless you get out to Ragged Ridge which is likely further than I want to go. I also see the Canfield Trails, but those are apparently multi-use with MTB and motorcycles. Which is fine but maaaaybe not what I'm looking for. Any advice? I'm thinking "Workout hike" level of distance/travel, etc

A little north of CdA to North and South Chilco Mtn 10ish miles RT for both peaks or 1300' and 6 miles RT for just the South Peak..probably the biggest bang for your buck. Mica Peak just south of Spokane has a new trail built by WTA with some good elevation gain. https://www.inlandnwroutes.com/north-and-south-chilco-peak.html https://www.wta.org/go-hiking/hikes/mica-peak Mt Coeur d'Alene is pretty good too but the summit is forested. Good for a hot day since you can take a dip in the nearby lake after. https://www.summitpost.org/coeur-d-alene-mount/154006

Real appreciated, RichP! Now let's hope the smoke isn't too bad.
