Thinking of going up to to the eastern Pasayten. From what I can tell, the Iron Gate TH and all roads to it, are open. Don't want to drive 6 hours up there and find out it's all smoked in. Called up the ranger station and they said they thought it wasn't smoky because of the elevation. But did not have eyes on it.

HTH https://fire.airnow.gov/ https://wasmoke.blogspot.com/?m=1 Olympics seem like a better bet for less smoke.

Check verrrrry carefully just before going. Fires from last night's storm are popping up all over the place.

What's especially fun about sock puppets is that you can make each one unique and individual, so that they each have special characters. And they don't have to be human末animals and aliens are great possibilities

Smoky for sure because of that BC fire to the NW, but probably not terrible. But yeah check for new fires, and note possible thunderstorms Sunday. "Not smoky because of elevation" doesn't make a ton of sense to me.

I see no mention of thunderstorms for tonight. They were mentioned in a warning from the Spokane weather office yesterday. I've got windows open as our air quality is pretty good this morning....moderate. We can expect fires popping up for some time from the Tuesday night storm. The DNR is doing a great job of hitting fires hard. up.gif up.gif

Didn't end up going, work schedules kind of weird so I tend to make last minute decisions on where/when to go. I will definitely update this thread if I do.

Two potential sources of smoke that I know of are the Muckamuck fire to the south near Conconully if the wind was blowing out of the SE. East are two fires--The Spur Fire, which recent reports say is burning quite happily today or has blown up and the Walker Fire which is near the Spur fire. I could see smoke from the Muckamuck fire while at the local Walmarche. It wasn't looking too ferocious but it was morning. The smoke was going south and was not billowing. I am not up on what is going on to the north right now. Tomorrow's conditions may be favorable for the fires to burn good and hot. Have heard that the Methow fires are winding down a bit. Maybe an update from a Methowian is needed.
