So the membrane will get "fouled" by sweat even faster and start leaking after only 1 season.

Probably up the price a little also or maybe a lot but will save a couple of ounces.

I've been riding/hiking with a Goretex Shakedry jacket for about three years now. Never leaks, never wets out, and has the weight of potato chip bag. Water beads up and at the end of the ride I take it off, give it a shake, good to go. I don't know how they can get any lighter than the shake dry material or more waterproof for that matter.

FWIW from the GoreTex website has this to say about their $300 shakedry cycling jacket:

I have the same Shakedry jacket, it's amazing how breathable it is, like a fleece but completely water and wind proof. I can ski (xc) in it and the right base layer and get back to my car dry. But I put a hole in one, so now I use its replacement on the bike and as an emergency layer only. I really can't believe how well it works.

In your next iteration on this forum, your username should be "wet blanket"

Didn’t see that, don’t care. The one I wear was sold by Arcteryx (Novan SL) and it has been on many backpacking trips and is none the worse for wear.

I put a hole in my Norvan SL. Ski crash, I slid for 15+ feet on it on ice. Arc'teryx replaced it for $50 and covered shipping, after I told them it was my fault.

Is this goretex going to stay waterproof for more than a couple years?
