Lot was pretty busy at 6:30 when I started. Burroughs was still in low clouds, but breaking up as I went further up. I thought I might catch the sunset, but it was gone when I hit the 3rd hill. A group two came down just I was reaching the high point. I kind of expected to see a few people but was alone for the night. I've done a similar night hike with my daughter after work and waited for a sunrise. This time I was a bit earlier to start then done photographing by midnight. My main goal was to catch the Milky Way core near the rainier summit with little Moon light. As I neared the Sunrise lot, there were many people wondering around and some taking photos, at around 2AM!

Very cool! I know the Freemont Lookout is a popular spot for photographers looking for that milky way alignment with Rainier, but I always wondered how things would look from the Burroughs. Now I know! Cool to hear you had the place to yourself. I hear Freemont can get pretty crowded at times. up.gif up.gif

Kenji, you are either the best at night photography, or in the top one!

Interesting to hear that the Sunrise parking lot was busy at 2 in the morning. Are you still using the Fuji camera you have mentioned in previous posts?

I was there that evening too, among the many at the Fremont Lookout. We went to the burroughs first but it was SOOO breezy and cold at 5pm that we bailed for lower terrain. Agree about the busy parking lot, I slept there but with earplugs and a mask, was surprised to find that between when I went to bed (10:30pm) and when I woke (5:30) that there were at least 4x as many cars in the lot.
